In this concert, you will hear music by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685–1750) and Joseph Gabriel Rheinberger (1839–1901). The choir sings Passion chorales by Bach, and the organ responds to each one with a chorale prelude in which the melody just heard is artfully developed. The concert concludes with Rheinberger's Stabat mater in G minor, Op. 138.
Like the Christmas concert on January 4, this concert is a collaboration between the Ökumenische Kantorei Epiphanien und St. Canisius and the Trinitatis Kantorei, rehearsed by Gulnora Karimova. Konstantin Volostnov will be playing the organ, and Anna Lusikov will be conducting.
- Admission is free. We welcome donations, which will help to support church music at Epiphany.
