Berlin’s finest art galleries
A unique architectural ensemble in the heart of Berlin is Museum Island, home to five outstanding museums and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since 1998, the Gemäldegalerie on Matthäikirchplatz has devoted its 7,000 square metres of exhibition space primarily to paintings from the 13th to the 18th century. You can admire contemporary art at the Gropius Bau near Potsdamer Platz and at the Hamburger Bahnhof. Numerous other museums and exhibition spaces complement this top-class offering.
