Weinberg: Piano Quintet and Works by Mendelssohn and Britten

Written in 1944, Mieczysław Weinberg’s Piano Quintet may be one of the most exciting—and least well known—chamber music works of the 20th century, a piece that is audibly indebted to the influence of Weinberg’s close friend and musical soulmate Dmitri Shostakovich - whose own Piano Quintet will be heard later in the season.

The Belcea Quartet is joined by Yulianna Avdeeva to present this work, alongside quartets by Mendelssohn and Benjamin Britten.
