A conversation with Shay Dashevsky and Hamza Abu Howidy, moderated by Hanan Liguori

“Voices from Gaza and Israel” is a project by Shay Dashevsky and Hamza Abu Howidy that brings together Israelis and Palestinians who believe in the power of dialogue, empathy, and personal relationships.

Experience a panel discussion with Shay Dashevsky from Israel and Hamza Abu Howidy from Gaza, who will share their personal experiences in the context of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

The event offers a rare opportunity to hear voices from both sides in an open and respectful dialogue. The two will share their stories, thoughts, and perspectives—beyond political rhetoric and media oversimplifications.

Shay Dashevsky and Hamza Abu Howidy were the 2025 recipients of the VOICE Albert O. Hirschman Prize, awarded annually by the Stiftung Kommunikationsaufbau (Foundation for Communication Development). In memory of the sociologist, economist, and activist Albert O. Hirschman, the prize supports individuals, groups, or projects that promote the participation of disadvantaged groups, combat political apathy, or counter populism, thereby advancing democratic development. The call for entries for the 2026 VOICE Prize opens on the day of the event.
