68projects by KORNFELD presents, for the first time, the new works by Hamburg-based Iranian painter Simin Jalilian. Her paintings are both biographical and political, expressive and poetic – a powerful appeal for freedom in life and in art.
Jalilian’s canvases evoke fragile atmospheres balanced between fear and hope, their intensity heightened by gestural brushstrokes that blur the lines between representation and abstraction. Her themes—displacement, identity, and belonging—emerge from lived experience and are rendered with emotional depth through a neo-expressionist lens.
Among the works on view are Please Don’t Deport, Refugees, Integration, and The Wow Effect. Jalilian merges Western expressionist traditions with contemporary political discourse, offering a compelling visual narrative of today’s world.
