At the community center for young and old, the Förderverein Stille Straße 10 e.V. is organizing a presentation with images (based on motifs by Rainer Winkelmann) and a discussion with Hans-Michael Schulze about Ossi Oswalda.

Ossi Oswalda
Ossi Oswalda was a famous actress during the silent film era.
She was born Oswalda Amalie Anna Stäglich on February 2, 1898, in Niederschönhausen. Trained as a ballerina, she became a dancer and was later discovered for film.
In comedies such as “Ich möchte kein Mann sein,” “Die Austernprinzessin,” and “Die Puppe” by Ernst Lubitsch, she often played the young, sassy heroine. Audiences loved her for her brash, flamboyant manner.
Her career came to an end with the advent of sound film.
Due to the Nazi dictatorship, she went into exile in Prague in 1933 and worked as a screenwriter. In her final years, she fell into obscurity.
After the end of World War II—which Germany had started—the Czechoslovak government declared millions of people to be enemies of the state because of their German or Hungarian heritage and, in some cases, expropriated their property.
Ossi Oswalda was also affected by this.
She died in poverty on March 7, 1947, in Zamberk (Senftenberg) at a sanatorium for lung patients.
