Archaeological excavations
Archaeological excavations at the Köpenick train station have uncovered the remains of a previously unexplored Reichsbahn forced-labor camp.
Köpenick Station is currently being converted into a regional train station. Archaeological excavations took place in advance of the construction project. This is because, during World War II, there were about 15 barracks along what is now Stellingdamm, housing over 800 forced laborers. The excavations, led by Gregor Döhner, revealed extensive architectural traces of the camp.
The event will begin with an introductory lecture by Roland Borchers on forced labor in Berlin.
