Laura Bruce (born 1959 in East Orange, New Jersey) has focussed on drawing in her artistic work since the early 2000s. In her first solo exhibition since 2020, Bruce is showing various groups of works from recent years at Galerie Parterre. Bruce's artistic development does not appear as a linear progression, but rather as a forward spiral in which earlier influences are revisited from ever new perspectives.

While some works are characterised by a turbulent dynamic, others are dominated by a deceptive, children's book-like gentleness and reduction. What they have in common is the interplay of harmony and tension.
Alongside the drawings, the gallery presents ceramics by Laura Bruce. Both media have something immediate and original about them. In this return to the elemental, Laura Bruce finds a balance in the midst of a sprawling world.
