Art exhibition at the Froschke Gallery
The exhibition Formations brings together abstract paintings by Sun Ju Kim with photographic works by Sima Zureikat in a dialogue about landscape, memory and transformation.
Both artists understand form not as a static state, but as a process – geological, emotional and artistic.
Sun Ju Kim's painting reduces natural elements to calm, concentrated fields of colour and form. Her compositions are reminiscent of horizons, reflections and transitions. They open up a space of silence and perception.
Sima Zureikat's photographic works, often inspired by the rock formations of Petra, approach landscape as both external and internal terrain. Through abstraction, layering and shifts in perspective, documentary references dissolve and transform into pictorial spaces between memory and the present. The monumental surfaces of the stone become projection surfaces for time, experience and inner movement.
Together, painting and photography unfold a quiet tension. The works resonate with each other and reveal how forms emerge, change and leave traces.
The vernissage is accompanied by a dance performance by Abel Navarro, whose movements take up the themes of the exhibition and extend the idea of formation into the body and into time.
