A three-part lecture series featuring best-practice examples from Berlin, Germany and Europe

How can cultural event formats reach new audiences, and what strategies are available? How can Berlin’s diverse arts scene be strengthened in a way that resonates with the public?

Using specific best-practice examples, the series will demonstrate how cross-disciplinary collaboration between the performing arts, visual arts and film/video art creates new avenues of engagement. It presents tried-and-tested strategies for audience development and sustainable community building – with a particular focus on international approaches from Europe as well as local experiences.

The talks are taking place as part of the exhibition ‘Produktive Region. Part 2’.

Curated by Eva Hertzsch, Adam Page and Andrea Plöger (ASH), it presents a conceptual model for a solidarity-based local economy.

You can find the dates of the individual events on September 10 and 11 in the events calendar.

Civic Engagement and Community Building as the Mission of Art

With: Alexander Koch | Neue Auftraggeber

Yes, art can truly make a difference. But to do so, it must venture out into the lives and needs of others.” – Alexander Koch (Director of the Gesellschaft der Neuen Auftraggeber – GNA gGmbH and Founding Chair of the Société internationale des Nouveaux commanditaires – International New Patrons Society) has been working as a curator, author, lecturer, and consultant since 1998.

His presentation explores the power of interdisciplinary commissioned art in urban peripheries—and citizens’ confidence that art can bring about something truly meaningful.

Followed by a get-together and presentation of the brochure ART.COMMUNITY.WORK, Performing Arts Programm.
