A Tribute to Marion Schuster

The 23rd Brassens Chanson Festival invites all lovers of French chanson to rediscover the poetic world of Brassens and his musical companions.

Those who grew up with this music will find a place here, as will those who discovered chanson later in life.

As every year, the festival will take place as a guest performance at the Centre Bagatelle cultural center—a venue whose special atmosphere has long made it a home for this time-honored event.

This year, the festival is dedicated to a woman who shaped it like no other: Marion Schuster, the founder and long-time director of the Brassens Chanson Festival, recently passed away. With a keen eye for artists, great dedication, and a deep love for French chanson, she built, guided, and developed the festival over decades.

This year’s edition is dedicated to her—in gratitude for her vision, her perseverance, and the many encounters she made possible. Her spirit will continue to resonate in the songs, in the audience, and in the special atmosphere of this evening.

The festival thus remains a place for listening, remembering, and passing on. An evening on which we can enjoy together what Marion Schuster created—and on which her passion for the chanson remains alive.
