Fritz Lang's science fiction film about the rebellion of the working class against the dominant upper class in the future city of Metropolis is one of the most important cinematic masterpieces of all time.

It is also one of the most important reconstructions and restorations in film history and was the first film to be included in the UNESCO documentary heritage list in 2001.
