The Udo Jürgens story

The brilliant duo Gabriela Benesch and Alex Parker, directed by Erich Furrer, ensure an evening full of memories and surprises and make the heart of every Udo Jürgens fan beat faster.

Udo Jürgens was a free spirit in every respect. Musically, he moved carefree between Schlager, chanson, jazz and pop music. In terms of content, he felt committed to peace, freedom and, above all, love and was not afraid to offend. With 61 albums and over 400 singles in the charts, with around 1,000 composed songs and more than 100 million records sold, he is one of the most successful solo artists worldwide.

"The Udo Jürgens Story" is the idea of the Vienna-born actress Gabriela Benesch and her husband, the Swiss director, actor author and producer Erich Furrer.

She tells stories and anecdotes from the personal notes of the great entertainer with humor and a lot of empathy. It takes the audience on a journey, beginning in Udo Jürgen's childhood up to his old age and granting deep insights into his career and his work - according to the motto: "His life, his love, his music".

The narrative insights are musically accompanied by singer and pianist Alex Parker. It is not without reason that Parker is considered the best-known Udo Jürgens interpreter. In the style of his great idol, Parker knows how to create a highly emotional atmosphere between himself and his audience in a sympathetic way. Udo Jürgens personally confirmed to the then 19-year-old Alex Parker how close he was to the original when he heard him sing in a hotel lobby.

"The Udo Jürgens Story" is a wonderful and extraordinary homage to the grand seigneur of German light music and already exceeded all expectations on the first tour of Germany in 2019/2020. The production, for example, delighted almost 1,500 visitors in the Bremen Musical Theater and was The public and the press celebrated wildly.

JENNY JÜRGENS: "A great concert in honor of our father. A must for all Udo fans!"
