With his hypnotic drumming, which laid the foundation for the success of the Surnatural Orchestra and his Magnetic Ensemble, Antonin Leymarie once again delivers a rhythmic yet melodic trance in his incomparable quintet. Always in search of new horizons, he surrounds himself with intrepid partners: Fabrizio Rat’s prepared piano, Clément Petit’s augmented cello, Maëlle Desbrosses’ expressive viola, and Élise Caron’s imaginative and wandering voice.

This ensemble exploits every possibility of sound transformation to create original rhythmic soundscapes, orchestrated with great formal simplicity and ideally suited for all forms of improvisation. The result is unsettling mantras—sometimes bright, sometimes dark—that open the doors to the imagination. Together, they create a vibrant, undisciplined space: one in which trouble arises.

Driven by pianist Gauthier Toux, a representative of a new generation without blinders, Photons’ instrumental techno is a hypnotic blend of jazz and electronica, shaped by the sound of Berlin nights. The music of his quartet—featuring drummer Julien Loutelier, double bassist Samuel F’hima, and guitarist Giani Caserotto—moves between intricate musical textures and top-notch improvisation, captivating the audience with catchy pieces where organic sounds blend with electronics.

Following the highly acclaimed release of the album La Nuit sans l’ennui (Komos Records), Photons continue down this path, establishing their reputation as an unconventional band project that makes elementary particles—or the whole body—vibrate on both jazz stages and at techno events.
