The novel is set in 1991. In a small town in Saxony, Johann works for the Treuhandanstalt and is tasked with deciding the fate of the historic Mielitzsch paper mill.

“Zellulose” tells of a time of radical change, in which old certainties are shattered and new promises go up in smoke. A poetic novel about a cross-German love story - and a portrait of a deeply shaken generation.
Kristof Kannegießer was born in 1977 in Halle/Saale and grew up in Kleinmachnow. He studied German language and literature and journalism at the Free University of Berlin and subsequently documentary filmmaking at the Film Academy in Ludwigsburg.
Since 2010 he has worked as a documentary filmmaker, television journalist, and cinematographer, primarily for public television, as well as a lecturer in the “Screen-Based Media” program at the Berlin University of Applied Sciences.
“Zellulose” is his second novel, following “Das Licht zwischen den Weiden.”
On this evening, Kristof Kannegießer will be accompanied on the accordion by Matthias Pfister.
