25th Jazz and Blues Stage Lichterfelde: "Saxophone Battles at its best"
The Berlin jazz quintet, led by the two tenor saxophonists Bernd Suchland and Patrick Braun, gets straight to the point: fresh and virtuosic, rough and direct, the band demonstrates the lasting energy of authentic jazz.
They take it seriously, the music that has proven its timeless legitimacy since the 50s and 60s. And they do so with a repertoire that consists of real discoveries: long-forgotten pieces in the tradition of the legendary two-tenor formations are brought out of the inexhaustible archives of jazz and brought back to the stage. This has worked very well for 20 years and over 350 concerts. The audience appreciates the musicians' uncomplicated approach and feels the relaxed groove of this soulful music.
The Toughest Tenors keep the area of jazz alive in style, which used to be part of everyday culture and which deserves to be heard with the heart rather than analyzed with the head.
