Taste the district

Around 100 guests will take part in an extraordinary communal meal that combines local cuisine, market products, and the cultural history of the district.

Kit Schulte, food experience designer and author (The Food Culture Project), is curating and producing this experiential dinner. Culinary contributions from Schöneberg restaurant and café owners and vendors at the Winterfeldtmarkt will be presented in five dramatically staged acts, creating an interactive and community-building experience.

WHERE DOES THE PRETZEL COME FROM?

Visitors take their seats at a table over 30 meters long to discover culinary stories and engage in conversation with their table neighbors—to explore artisanal baking traditions, regional and seasonal products, and diverse traditions from near and far with all their senses.

THE SPIRIT OF THE TIMES GOES THROUGH THE STOMACH

The evening creates space for encounters and conversations, as well as for a deeper understanding of a city whose cuisine is constantly evolving through migration, exchange, and new flavors.

A communal dinner becomes an experience somewhere between performance, food design, and a culinary journey of discovery. The format deliberately focuses on interaction: Guests share dishes, serve one another, and in doing so learn the stories behind the products and the businesses that have shaped Berlin’s food culture for decades.

The 100 spots for the event are free—no tickets need to be purchased. Interested participants can register starting June 1 at TASTE THE DISTRICT - THE FOOD CULTURE PROJECT to enter the drawing for spots.
