Staatskapelle Berlin, Christian Thielemann, Igor Levit

Hans Pfitzner, known for his large-scale operas, also wrote impressive orchestral works—including a powerful piano concerto in the late Romantic tradition in 1922. Franz Liszt, on the other hand, pioneered a new genre with his symphonic poems: Three of these colorful works impressively demonstrate the stylistic diversity and innovative power of this musical visionary.
