Samurai Museum Berlin
Swords of the Mino tradition are regarded as the epitome of sharp and sturdy battle swords. Having emerged and developed amid the conflicts of the 14th century, sword production subsequently became concentrated primarily in one place and under one name, which remains to this day the most famous hallmark of Japanese blades: Seki.
But why was a historic customs post in the province able to develop into one of Japan’s largest sword-making centers? In a follow-up to the topic of the Mino tradition, they will this time explore the “Seki phenomenon” in greater detail. And as always, there will be an opportunity to examine works by swordsmiths with a Seki background more closely following the lecture.
