Short Tours of Berlin Wall Sites & Monument Preservation

The East Side Gallery is an open-air gallery located on the longest surviving section of the Berlin Wall. Guided tours, which begin every half hour, shed light on the origins of the East Side Gallery, which was created in 1990 by 118 artists from 21 countries and is now one of Berlin’s most famous landmarks.

Following the preserved traces of the former border strip, the tour demonstrates how the Wall was secured and what evidence of the division remains visible to this day. Selected works of art illustrate how the imagery has changed over the course of 35 years and the challenges involved in preserving this unique monument. The tours invite visitors to engage in conversation about originality, restoration, and the culture of remembrance.

The event is part of the special program marking the 65th anniversary of the construction of the Wall.
