Schubert and more

The Konzertleben e.V. association kicks off the new year on 21 January, opening its third season of the chamber music series ‘Musik bildet’ (Music Educates). This is a collaboration with the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and the Harnack House of the Max Planck Society.

The concerts in the series are held regularly at two exceptional venues with a special atmosphere in Berlin-Dahlem. With this series, which has become very popular with audiences, the Musikleben e.V. association has set itself the goal of intelligently combining artistic excellence with the promotion of young musical talent.

This year's concert series is entitled ‘Schubert & more’. The German-Romanian pianist Catalin Serban has taken on the role of artistic director and will focus on a work by Franz Schubert at each of the six concert evenings, accompanied by other masterpieces of chamber music literature. The series brings together internationally established artists with outstanding young musicians, creating a lively dialogue between experience and new beginnings.

The opening concert on 21 January will be performed by the Varyon Quartet, a young, multi-award-winning ensemble from the Berlin University of the Arts. For this concert, the quartet will be joined by a prominent guest performer: together with Viennese violinist Amira Abouzahra, Kyota Kakiuchi (second violin), Arda Aykut (viola) and Syon Najman (cello). The highlight of the evening will be a collaboration with internationally acclaimed cellist Andrei Ioniță, winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition and one of the leading cellists of his generation.
