Guitar Concert to Mark the Closing of Marita Czepa’s Exhibition “Fragile Beauty”

Guitarist and composer Malte Vief will perform his solo program “Musical Images” on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at the Krankenhauskirche in Wuhlgarten. The concert will take place as part of the closing event for the exhibition “Fragile Beauty” by artist Marita Czepa.

In “Musikalische Bilder,” Malte Vief tells stories through sound. Personal experiences and encounters are transformed into soundscapes that evoke moods, memories, and emotions. His music can be poetic, melancholic, and contemplative, but it can also be powerful, explosive, and rousing. Five different guitar instruments are featured throughout the concert—ranging from classical concert sounds to the guitar’s more unusual sonic possibilities. The aliquot guitar is particularly interesting. Its resonance strings, which are not struck directly, vibrate in response to tones and overtones. This creates a particularly full and spacious sound.

Malte Vief initially received classical training in Bremen and Hamburg and later continued his studies in Thomas Fellow’s guitar class at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden. As a composer and guitarist, he has received numerous international awards.

A surprising and lively concert evening featuring five guitars, great stylistic freedom, and music that tells stories and lingers in the mind.
