M. TAKARA & CARLA BOREGAS
CARLA BOREGAS – synthesizer, electronics
MAURICIO TAKARA – drums, percussion, electronics
Versatile percussionist Mauricio Takara and distinctive sound artist Carla Boregas were long key figures in São Paulo's experimental and underground music scene before moving to Berlin. The two musicians have performed together so often that there is a depth and fluidity that blurs the boundaries between their roles: Takara's percussion drives and pulls rhythmic explorations and Boregas shapes each synthesizer and sample source to create a seductive glow of resonances.
DIE HOCHSTAPLER
LOUIS LAURAIN – trumpet
PIERRE BOREL – alto saxophone
ANTONIO BORGHINI – bass
HANNES LINGENS – drums
As one of the most exciting groups in improvised music at the moment, Die Hochstapler live up to the name freebop. Since its formation in 2011, the French-Italian-German quartet has developed an intuitive practice in which each set is structured spontaneously. The musicians acquire a constantly growing repertoire by listening and replaying, within which each of them can introduce a new piece during a session. The others either join in or let the initiative run dry. In this way, the quartet functions as a kind of social experiment in which melodies serve as material for musical conversations and collective creation in real time.
Doors: 7.30 pm
Start: 8.00 pm
