with Hendrik Otremba

On Wednesday, 25 March, Literaturkapelle (Literature chapel) will kick off at Kapelle99 in Friedrichshain, located at Boxhagenerstraße 99.

To start things off, Hendrik Otremba, Berlin writer, visual artist and singer with the band Messer, will read from his new novel ‘Der Gräber’ (The Gravedigger) in a Berlin premiere.

In this dark yet hopeful dystopia, Oswalth Kerzenrauch, who cannot die, roams the ruins of Berlin in 2196, destroyed after the Third World War, and finds love in the city's ruins. Otremba will discuss the book, his work and Berlin with tipBerlin literary editor Erik Heier.

Kapelle99 is a former cemetery chapel that the district of Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg recently converted into a cultural venue.
