“The Journey to the End of History” is a fast-paced and hilarious adventure novel set in the 1990s by the German-Icelandic writer.
In it, a quirky BND agent, Dieter Germeshausen, recruits the young, world-famous poet Jakob Dreiser for the Federal Intelligence Service—at a reception at the Russian Embassy in Rome. Germeshausen was also secretly working for the KGB, which poses a real problem after the collapse of the Soviet Union. And the poet takes a liking to his new job. Plenty to talk about, then, for Kristof Magnusson and tipBerlin literary editor Erik Heier.
Every last Wednesday of the month, we host a writer from Berlin on our reading and talk show at Kapelle99 in Friedrichshain.
