They are the last generation: people whose parents were born in the GDR. With them, there is a risk that everything that existed beyond the Wall and the Stasi will disappear—the dreams, the literature, the songs, the people.

Seven Berlin-based singer-songwriters with GDR parents take the audience on a musical journey into a history that is too often reduced to its darkest chapters.
On this evening, original compositions will be performed alongside folk songs and songs from the GDR era. The artists will also share inspiring literature that was written and read in the GDR—texts that hardly anyone knows today.
People’s dreams were as diverse then as they are today. The artists of the evening believe: They deserve to be remembered so they are not forgotten.
