The Alte Feuerwache Cultural Centre presents a jazz concert by Fink, Nakajima and Komoll. In this new project, three exceptional musicians allow musical ideas to mature into conceptual structures which, like all concepts, carry the DNA of their future within them. As they play together, these structures can be perceived as narrative sequences of their communication.
Characterised by deep silence and intense emotional resonance, the trio, consisting of Johannes Fink, Shinichi Nakajima and Felix Komoll, metaphorically guides the listener through forgotten spheres, where they merge traditional aesthetics with intellectual and mystical elements.
The pieces invite the audience into dimensions where music goes beyond mere audition and touches one's own being to be felt and lived.
Johannes Fink comes from a family of musicians spanning several generations. After practising the piano, drums, guitar and double bass, he now enjoys transcending dogmatic boundaries with the cello, with which he has developed his own distinctive sound.
Shinichi Nakajima began playing jazz in a big band while studying physics at university. After graduating, he studied music and drums in Osaka and Tokyo and began performing in jazz clubs and at music festivals in Tokyo and other cities in Japan.
Felix Komoll discovered music at an early age. He began playing the piano at the age of five, later adding the guitar to his repertoire. As a composer, Felix Komoll explores the intersections between improvisation and composed music, as well as the cultural heritage of different styles, eras and cultures.
