Guided tour for the Open Monument Day 2026
People all live in networks—but what happens when these are forcibly severed? The Lapidarium of the Berlin Wall Foundation brings together the physical infrastructure of a border that severed social, urban, and cultural connections for decades. Wall elements, watchtowers, and lighting systems represent a system that not only controlled spaces but also disrupted and reorganized networks.
The tour demonstrates how these structures functioned as part of a complex infrastructure and what traces they have left on society to this day. At the same time, it explores how monuments can help make severed connections visible and tangible once again.
