Art, Public Speaking, Workshop
The Parliament of Trees and the East Side Gallery—at both locations, artists appropriated remnants of the Berlin Wall, painted them with their art, and thereby celebrated the fall of the Wall, while also commemorating the victims and the division of Berlin.
They have been preserved as monuments: the Parliament of Trees as a green oasis in the heart of the government district, and the East Side Gallery as a major attraction of the metropolis of Berlin.
At the Parliament of Trees, children between the ages of 5 and 12 can create their own works of art—on a small natural island in the heart of the government district, they discover a place of tranquility and inspiration away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Adults can engage in conversation with the guides about the history of the site.
