Tue, Sept 06, 7pm-2pm | Short Film and Talk

Despite all security risks and economic as well as traditional challenges, Afghan women have fought for considerable improvements in their situation in the last twenty years before the Taliban conquered Kabul. We will show a short documentary filmed just before the takeover, in which some socio-politically and entrepreneurially successful women and girls express their dreams and fears. Afterwards, we will inform and discuss about the situation and perspectives of women in Afghanistan in the last 20 years and today as well as the situation of Afghan women in Germany. How can Afghan women be better perceived and supported?  With: Tahora Husaini (co-founder of the association "Women for the Middle East e.V."), Elke Ferner (Chairwoman of UN Women Germany), representative of Yaar e.V.
