The Federal Intelligence Service, or BND for short, offers interested parties interesting insights into its work in the interactive exhibition at its visitor center.
The BND visitor center provides information about the working methods and parliamentary control of the German foreign intelligence service, which evaluates information of foreign and security policy importance.
The Visitor Center is located directly next to the BND’s central headquarters in Berlin-Mitte.
About the BND Visitor Center:
The BND is the first and only intelligence service in the world that—five years after opening its doors to registered visitor groups—has been welcoming spontaneous guests to its Visitor Center since August 6, 2024. These guests can visit without prior registration and:- meet the team
- explore the multimedia and interactive exhibition
- engage in conversations with BND staff
Over the past five years, several tens of thousands of interested citizens have visited our Visitor Center in Berlin-Mitte as part of registered groups. During these visits, they have learned about the BND’s tasks, topics, powers, methods, and oversight through introductory presentations. In the first half of 2025 alone, we welcomed 15,000 guests.
In the modern permanent exhibition, you can
- view exclusive exhibits from the life of an agent
- discover special experiences of the diverse BND staff
- gain insights into the eventful history of the BND
- and also learn a lot about working in the field of tension between secrecy and transparency
The BND Visitor Centre in Berlin-Mitte is open Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (last admission at 4:30 p.m.) and does not require advance booking.
- Admission is free.
- These events are also free of charge.
In addition to the exhibition on two floors, visitors can also visit the club, which offers comfortable seating and WiFi as well as an original social media corner where everyone can film or take photos of their individual memories. Visitors can also stock up on attractive products in BND designs from the vending machine in the BND shop.
The BND Visitor Centre is not a static place, but will continue to evolve and be updated regularly.
