bastille musique presents
- Free online reservations requested.
Kurtág’s music does not unfold over a long period of time; it is music of the moment, of the gesture, of the impulse, of the emotion. This is undoubtedly why Kurtág is so fond of using short forms such as the miniature.
His language is based on clear, precisely defined musical events that, depending on the occasion, form genuine phrases in the literal sense of the word, with their consonants and vowels, their punctuation.
There is also a surreal topography of sound fragments to discover: some flat, others curved or cubed, in the manner of Joan Miró, who arranged almost childlike figures with apparent nonchalance on the canvas of his paintings.
In recent years, the Quatuor Béla has repeatedly engaged intensively with Kurtág’s works for string quartet and recently recorded them as a studio production at SWR in Stuttgart. The recordings will be released by bastille musique.
- An event organized by the Collegium Hungaricum Berlin in cooperation with bastille musique and the Quatuor Béla.
