Freiburger Barockorchester, Kristian Bezuidenhout, Julian Prégardien, Christoph Prégardien

The relationship between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his father Leopold has been extensively studied by scholars, literature, and pedagogues – less well known, however, is that Mozart himself was the father of two sons.

Carl Thomas and Franz Xaver. The latter, born in the year his famous father died, followed in his musical footsteps and, as a student of Salieri and Hummel, pursued a career as a celebrated pianist and composer with works such as piano concertos and art songs.

The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra focuses on the musical legacy of this extraordinary father-son constellation – congenially supported by Christoph and Julian Prégardien, who impress not only as outstanding Mozart interpreters but also as a true father-son duo. With Kristian Bezuidenhout on the fortepiano, this evening promises a multifaceted, beautifully sonorous, and highly musical concert experience.

Introductory lecture at 7:15 p.m. in the foyer (1st floor)
