Performance

This piece explores existence and the eternal search for home— through music, dance, spoken word, and fierce pride.

Breaking against an Amarula tree, I try to piece myself together — fragments piercing like thorns. Ameva. When held to the light, they reflect my uncertainties in radiant hues. Affection is soft, touch is feminine, empathy belongs to someone else. I’ve destroyed myself to see my body as new.

Wangifundisa ukuthi indoda iqinile. Indoda ayikhali. Iyanikeza. Indoda yindoda yamadoda. Wena, uyindoda. Mina hayi. But I am strong, giving, patient, and hopeful. I am not what I was taught. I am more.
