Jazzwoche Berlin #8
Characterized by an open, exploratory attitude and a keen interest in diverse sound cultures, she develops a multifaceted musical aesthetic in which acoustic and electronic elements converge.
- Edith Steyer, alto saxophone (and bandleader)
- Joe Hertenstein - Drums
- Svetlana Marinchenko - Keys
- Isabel Rößler - Bass
Together with Joe Hertenschtein (drums), Svetlana Marinchenko (piano, synthesizer), and Isabel Rösler (bass), an open sonic space emerges, full of tension, subtle interaction, and spontaneous energy.
Prepared instruments, extended playing techniques, electronic sound processing, and immediate communication in the moment shape a music that is at once delicate, physical, and unpredictable.
The focus is on the collective exploration of sound—between structure and freedom, between delicate textures, expressive density, and noisy, dynamic impulses. This gives rise to a collective sound that constantly reinvents itself and unfolds its power in the dialogue between the musicians.
FBJR: “Female Band Leader Jazz Row” is a concert series curated by pianist and keyboardist Svetlana Marinchenko, who invites exciting female bandleaders from Berlin and other cities to the stage.
The selection of artists is based primarily on their distinctive musical sound and their individual artistic signature. The series presents both established musicians with remarkable achievements in the music scene as well as new, promising voices that bring fresh energy.
Each guest artist is a creative personality with her own vision and a unique approach to music. The concerts offer the audience top-tier musicians, new music, and an inspiring, lively atmosphere.
- Admission is free—a reasonable cultural contribution is requested.
- Peppi Guggenheim is a women-only smoking bar
- Admission from age 18
