At her book launch at HAU Hebbel am Ufer, the author will discuss the following questions with Margarita Tsomou, HAU curator for theory and discourse: What continuities or turning points connect fascism with capitalism and colonialism? How can we recognise fascism, and how can its concept and theory be updated now that the West has betrayed the protective measures of international law? And to what extent is the authoritarian breakdown of the liberal order already inherent in it?

Even if its themes seem to overwhelm us, “Dieser Drang nach Härte” (This urge for harshness) is an enlightening and resistant book that contrasts solidarity with the pervasive harshness of our times. Eva von Redecker, born in 1982, is a philosopher and freelance author.
