For one month, 90 students are taking a break from their studies to perform Ravel's ‘Daphnis et Chloé’ at the Berlin University of the Arts.

The Netherlands Student Orchestra (NSO) is a young, nationwide project orchestra that was founded in 1952 and is reassembled each year from talented students who are engaged in classical music at a high level alongside their studies at a college or university.

The selected students interrupt their studies to devote themselves entirely to music for a month: After an intensive rehearsal phase, the orchestra embarks on a major international tour. During the tour, it traditionally visits the ten major Dutch concert venues as well as several foreign concert halls.

Each year, the programme offers a combination of a challenging ‘major work’ and collaborations with young Dutch soloists and composers, who change annually, under the baton of a renowned conductor.

Programme:

Arjan Linker Durga - Puriya Sonata (commissioned composition)

Sergei Prokofiev Violin Concerto No. 2 Soloist: Noa Wildschut

Maurice Ravel Daphnis et Chloé, Suites 1 & 2
