Lied und Lyrik: Eduard Mörike

Christoph Prégardien, Udo Samel, and curator Julius Drake opened the "Song and Poetry" series in the fall of 2021 with a literary and musical homage to Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Now the three artists return, focusing on Eduard Mörike, a poet who was already considered the most important heir of Weimar Classicism during his lifetime.

Readings and musical settings from the 19th and 20th centuries open new perspectives on the dark, surprising facets behind the seemingly idyllic Biedermeier world of his texts.

  • Eduard Mörike - Selected Poems and Texts, Reading in German
  • Settings by Robert Schumann, Pauline Viardot, Johannes Brahms, Hugo Wolf, Hans Pftitzner, Otmar Schoeck, and others
