Echoes: Works for Violin and Piano
Charlotte Spruit and Angus Webster present a duo program replete with musical echoes and reminiscences, taking their motto from Johannes Brahms, who quotes his own song Nachklang (“Echo”) in his First Violin Sonata.
While Thomas Adès references English folk music in his Märchentänze, the image of W. B. Yeats’s Wild Swans resonates in the music of Sally Beamish. And Claude Debussy turned to the classical genre of the sonata in his final work, written in 1917.
