About a month before the Derby Meeting, the eyes of the harness racing world turn to Mariendorf: On July 5, 2026, the Mariendorf Harness Race Track will host the Buddenbrock Race, one of the most traditional competitions in German harness racing.

Held since 1901, this race is considered a key indicator for the upcoming Derby. Whoever prevails here automatically joins the extended circle of favorites for the Derby Meeting, which will also be held in Mariendorf in early August.

Two races will be held for the best young horses, separated by gender and offering a total of 37,500 euros in prize money. Additionally, a stage of the international Super Trot Cup is on the program, featuring drivers from Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Austria competing against one another. This will turn the racetrack into a gathering place for athletes and fans from several European countries.

It’s worth a visit even outside of race time: admission is free, free pony rides are offered for children, and the food and beverage options on the grounds invite you to relax and enjoy the race day.
