Martin Puttke's autobiography is more than just an artist's biography. It is a historical document about life, training, and cultural work in a divided Germany.

As the long-time director of the Berlin State Ballet School, Martin Puttke transformed the institution into an internationally renowned training center. In his lecture, he recounts his experiences with training, the daily life on stage, and the cultural policy framework in East Germany. Without nostalgia, but with clarity and passion, he looks back on a time when art was always political.
