Guided tour in the footsteps of the division of Germany to mark the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall

Due to its immediate proximity to the inner-German border, the entire riverside area below Babelsberg Palace became a restricted border zone in 1961.

During a guided tour from the castle forecourt via the Rose Staircase to the Steam Engine House, the former course of the border is explained using historical imagery.

Visitors learn how the former summer residence of Emperor Wilhelm I was used during the GDR era and what traces from the time of German division are still preserved in the park.
