26th Jazz & Blues Days Lichterfelde: Urban Soul, Funk and Groove Jazz

A party atmosphere is guaranteed at the Jazz and Blues Stage finale! Urban soul, funk, and groove jazz are passionately mixed live into a top-notch, danceable cocktail.

From the creative energy of Berlin's Moabit-Tiergarten district, formerly known as Berlin 21, emerged a group that infuses urban jazz with a captivating dose of funk and soul: BERLIN 21 STREETWORKERS.

What began spontaneously with street concerts during the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved into a high-caliber musical powerhouse – energetic, engaging, and danceable.

With a repertoire of classics from Stevie Wonder, Sting, Bob Marley, the Crusaders, the Beatles, and the Yellowjackets, combined with select original compositions, the ensemble strikes a chord with generations who grew up with groove and feeling – while also appealing to a curious and open-minded audience.

Since 2024, the band has been enriched by an exceptional voice: Emil Wahlgren (born 1999) captivates audiences with his distinctive, versatile vocals, effortlessly moving between soul, pop, and jazz. Inspired by greats such as Al Jarreau, Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Nat King Cole, and Billy Joel, Wahlgren brings a new vocal dimension to the ensemble. His improvisations and scat singing are virtuosic, expressive, and charming.
