For many years, Erbatur Çavuşoğlu has been navigating the worlds of music, subculture, and urban space research. In Turkey, he combined anarcho-punk with a critical examination of urban spaces, repeatedly causing a stir in the process.

About ten years ago, he began a new chapter in Berlin and founded the record store Lefter Records—a passionately curated archive of music history reflected in thousands of records.
In this conversation, Çavuşoğlu offers insights into his work and talks about Rumi Sounds, his record label, which—just like Lefter Records—is constantly evolving. With a vision of cultural diversity, the label sees itself as a platform and an “umbrella” for musicians from the Berlin diaspora across various genres.
Hosts Lucilla Schmidinger and Sebastian Reier invite guests to NEXTDOOR TALK once a month to explore Berlin’s fluid cultural life from different perspectives. The focus is on unique lifestyles, projects, and works—and always on music. Together with their guests, they discover new things, listen to records, watch films, present books, discuss, eat, or meditate. Each episode takes on its own unique form.
