Freiburger Barockorchester, Alexander Chance

British countertenor Alexander Chance is one of the most promising voices of his generation, captivating audiences with his exquisite musicality and radiant sound. He has performed several times as a member of the renowned vocal ensemble Vox Luminis with the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra (FBO) – his debut as a soloist in the subscription series promises to be a special highlight.

For his program, Chance has selected two contrasting cantatas by Antonio Vivaldi: The sacred cantata Nisi Dominus captivates with its meditative depth, while Cessate, omai cessate unfolds the full emotional range of Italian Baroque art with dramatic expressiveness.

The FBO strings also take center stage: With virtuoso instrumental works by Corelli, Locatelli, and Zavatieri, the violins in particular demonstrate their full tonal fire and dance-like refinement.
