From October 22 to 26, 2025, the Ukrainian Film Festival Berlin (UFFB) will once again bring a diverse selection of current Ukrainian films to Berlin's screens under the motto “The Time We Have Left.”
The festive opening will take place on October 22 at the Silent Green Kulturquartier. The five-day film festival will focus on contemporary feature films and documentaries from Ukraine.
"The motto of this year's edition focuses on the time we have left – not as an apocalyptic gesture, but as an invitation to clarity. What do we do with this time? Amidst an ongoing war in Ukraine that claims lives every day – of soldiers and civilians alike – and a world in turmoil, this festival is not about resignation, but about attitude. The selected films embody this attitude. They confront finitude, not with drama, but with depth. UFFB 2025 does not want to be a place of despair, but a space of conscious presence," explain the festival's curators, Daria Buteiko, Ivanna Kozak, and Valentyna Zalevska.
In addition to the main program, the festival will once again focus on postcolonial perspectives in the countries of the former Soviet Union. The country focus will be on Armenia and Georgia.
The short film competition, successfully launched in 2024, is entering its second round. Entries can be submitted via the FilmFreeway platform until September 1, 2025. In addition, the festival will present thematically curated short film series outside of the competition. In 2025, the festival will once again be dedicated to a retrospective of Ukrainian cinema. The theme and focus of this section are yet to be announced.
The opening film will be announced at the end of August and the complete program at the beginning of September.
