Taiwan Panorama - TCO 2026 European Tour
Under the direction of Li-Pin Cheng, the orchestra, together with the internationally renowned cellist Wen-Sinn Yang and the dizi virtuoso Yi-Chun Lai, unfolds an impressive soundscape. The music unites elegance, expressiveness, and the distinctive colors of traditional Chinese instruments into a captivating listening experience.
The concert program presents works by Taiwanese composers from various eras. The musical imagery ranges from indigenous sounds and hakka melodies to temple festivals and atmospheric landscape impressions—a vibrant tapestry of sound brimming with "Taiwan flair." At the same time, the concert represents Taiwan's artistic diversity and an open cultural dialogue across national borders.
Founded in 1979, the Taipei Chinese Orchestra is Taiwan's first professional Chinese orchestra. With innovative crossover programs, the ensemble continually revitalizes traditional Chinese music and expands its artistic expression. A particular milestone was the 2018 concert at Carnegie Hall, where the orchestra became the first professional ensemble from Taiwan to perform on this world-famous stage.
