Frederik Britzlmair & Co-Respondents Group / Master's Thesis: Play and Object
Passed from hand to hand, carried through bodies, and inextricably linked across centuries as a testament to intimate alliances, tender encounters, and fleeting moments.
‘soft corps’ is a speculative re-enactment in the form of a queer occupation of the Spandau Citadel.
Participants drift through collective interventions, choreographed scenes, and immersive soundscapes. They are invited to actively inscribe themselves into the emerging chronologies through body, voice, and action. In doing so, the historically militarized and male-dominated space of the fortress complex is renegotiated.
Following a joint introduction to LARP, participants are invited to move freely between situational spaces within the citadel and to let their own narrative connections emerge. The performance concludes with a collective ritual; afterward, there is an opportunity to reflect on the experiences together over a drink and bring the evening to a close.
The project is being developed in collaboration with and with the support of the Spandau Citadel and is funded by the “Decentralized Cultural Work Fund of the Spandau District of Berlin.”
Notes on participation:
Certain elements of the performance are accessible exclusively via a charged cell phone with headphones. Since all participants will be dressing up and moving together within the performance, comfortable clothing and shoes are recommended.
It is recommended to participate from the start, though joining later or leaving early is possible at any time. ‘soft corps’ is conceived as a collective and discrimination-sensitive space. The organizers ask for mindful interaction with one another and will not tolerate any form of racist, queerphobic, sexist, anti-Semitic, ableist, or otherwise discriminatory behavior.
The project will be documented through video and photography. By entering the performance, participants agree to be visible in the documentation. If this is not desired, please notify us in advance or on-site
