NAUTI SIREN isn’t just a new, outstanding music collective—it also represents one of the most exciting musical (and romantic) collaborations on the current dance music scene.
SUPER DJ DMITRY is a man who certainly needs no introduction. He began his career as a DJ at New York’s famous Pyramid Club and later became a co-founder of DEEE-LITE, the world’s most influential dance/fashion/art collective. Dmitry is credited with bringing a radical understanding of vintage flair combined with funk into the age of digital communication. Dmitry has collaborated with a wide range of artists, creating remixes for them and producing their work, including CHAKA KHAN, JULIE CRUISE, SINEAD O’CONNOR, ZIGGY MARLEY, and many others. In his new duo, NAUTI SIREN, he transcends the boundaries of a “World Clique,” heralds an “Inter-dimensional Clique,” and thereby expands the dance floor beyond form, space, and time.
JESSIE EVANS was one of the darlings of San Francisco’s post-punk scene in the 2000s. After gaining her first experiences with the SUBTONIX and THE VANISHING, the scene soon proved too lukewarm to contain the nuclear fusion exploding from her songwriting, so she set her sights on Europe and South America. As a solo artist, she collaborated with TOBY DAMMIT and STEVE MACKAY (IGGY AND THE STOOGES), BUDGIE (SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES), LYDIA LUNCH, and BETTINA KOSTER (MALARIA!). Her sound became her very own musical trademark—a blend of world music, disco, jazz, reggae, and rocksteady with a touch of esoteric spirituality.
The two were introduced to each other by Eric D. Clark in 2022, and that’s how NAUTI SIREN came to be. Their debut album “RISING,” produced between Berlin and Brazil, is a kaleidoscope of sound that constantly shifts with beautiful patterns—a genre-spanning, cosmically radiant, groovy, and heartfelt work that blends dub, soul, electro, jazz, house, world music, post-punk, disco, and other groovy galaxies far beyond. Mystical percussion alternates with seductive saxophone and prophetic poetry, forming the backbone for vulnerable yet triumphant dancefloor anthems: songs about unity, resilience, and even gentler ballads about motherhood. In short: “Rising” is an explosive gem and a kind of antidote in these times of division. The beats on this record feel like a cosmic needle stitching all our hopes and good intentions together on a dance floor in space.
