Fantasy and Farewell: Works by Vaughan Williams, Parry, Elgar, and Marsh
Farewell harbors uncertainty – within it lies the faint hope of a reunion, but also the painful realization of the transience of human relationships.
The Knot, a commissioned work by the British composer Joanna Marsh, is centered around these tensions. The RIAS Kammerchor Berlin, together with Ensemble Resonanz under the direction of Justin Doyle, will premiere it in the Pierre Boulez Saal.
The program is complemented by Hubert Parry's impressive Songs of Farewell, composed during the First World War as a moving homage to fallen students and friends, as well as instrumental works by Ralph Vaughan Williams and Edward Elgar.
An event by the RIAS Chamber Choir Berlin in collaboration with the Pierre Boulez Saal
